Prex Jhas Jherin today announced that Arakyd's Direx Board had voted to reject the four-year-old option to split the firm into two seperate entities that had been drawn up by former Prex Lorne Ramiir. The plan would have created a second organization, dubbed Pipeline Design, Ltd., headquartered on Chazwa in the Imperial Sluis Sector. Jherin said in his statement, "The move was an attempt by Sector Command to further integrate the corporation into COMPNOR, to which we, of course, were opposed. That's why he was forced to seek the Board's approval in the first place."
Current VicePrex for Research and Development, Arista Wells, had been flagged to lead the new corporation. An aide to VicePrex Wells reported that she fully supported the Direx Board's move, which has been expected since the liberation of Kelada by the New Republic.

Shortly after Arakyd's announcement that it was again open for business, rumors have begun to circulate about the future of Prex Jhas Jherin, longtime chief executive officer of the corporation. Sources say that several members of the board have quietly criticized Jherin for accomodating nationalization under COMPNOR, when he was VicePrex of the Marketing Division. After Lorne Ramiir left the position of ExO and Prex, Jherin was chosen by both the Direx Board and the Coalition for Progress to replace him. When asked about the rumored grumblings, an aide to Jherin said such sentiments would be preposterous, and that Jherin can easily point to a long record of service to the Arakyd during the Republic's previous hold on Kelada.
