Galaxy Map Project

This site is for developing the map setup for SWC and creating an expression of club history so members can understand what has been going on here for the past 9 or 10 years. In other words, it is for a comprehensive description of this club's setting.

The information contained here is not known off-hand by every character. In addition, characters do not have perfect memories: traveling a trade route doesn't mean you remember the travel times between each world months later. This site is more for players to know about SWC than for their PCs. Leaders in the Tactical Game will have the greatest access IC to this information. It wiill also be useful for gamemasters in creating missions.

Galaxy Map

The principles underlying this map will do several things for SWC.

Physical Sectors
By using sectors based on the Star Wars 'history/setting,' planets associated with each other are in the same sector. This takes things out of the hands of the current political/administrative sectors, which obstruct play. Sluis Sector (SWNR) and Imperial Sluis Sector (SWE) have nothing to do with each other. Independents don't travel between worlds, the Navies on each side do planetary defenses but have no real strategy, and there's even a planet involved (Kelada) that isn't in the same Region.
Trade Routes
Unlike the maps of other clubs, which just use what is essentially a grid with travel times based on distance, this map will bring focus on trade routes. This will focus economic and strategic value on particular worlds located on the major routes and the meeting places between them. It will also help the independents interact with the other two parts of the club by forcing them through particular areas controlled by them to get where they want to go. Additionally, this style of travel times will prevent endlessly reinforcing planets during battles, and slow down deployment or delivery of newly-constructed starships.
Regional Settings
I intend to put together the map in a modular way, so I can just put together what's needed now and put in additional sections later when there are enough things going on to actively use them.

The information in this file is being compiled for SWC. It contains some planets made by our own members, and even more importantly as far as outsiders are concerned, our own rulings and club setting regarding planets from the novels and other sources. I'm only making it available to assist people who want to make Senators for the New Republic. I don't want to see a copy of it on another website.
