Standing Army

Infantry Commander:  Lieutenant General Yannas ben Mardikhay

General Description:  The heart and soul of the Iyudean Army itself, the Infantry forms the core of Iyudah's surface self-defense force.  The standing Iyudean Army is composed of six infantry divisions (supplemented by two Marine Divisions).  Each division contains 5,184 combat personnel and is organized as follows:

Each division also maintains 941 command and support personnel, for a total unit strength of 6,125 personnel.  This results in a total standing army size of 36,750 personnel (49,000 including the Marines).

The Kingdom of Iyudah retains the right to call up from one to sixteen reserve divisions as well during times of crisis, boosting the Army's field strength to up to 147,000 trained soldiers;  however, only the eight active divisions are termed Alef-class units, displaying the latest in equipment and training.  Additionally, about 50,000 citizens are former active-duty or reserve soldiers.  Should a defensive surface war be forced upon Iyudah, the world can reasonably muster a total armed force of up to 2 million defenders.
