The Meggidan Floodplain

Iyudah's only arable land, the Meggidan Floodplain is the area of fertile soil drained by the Meggido River, which flows from its source in the Ebritz Highlands to the east of the valley across the plain to the Iyudean Ocean on its western edge.  To the north of Meggido is the vast Paran Desert, which occupies over two-thirds of Iyudah's only continent;  to the east and south are the Hafesh and Seir Mountains, respectively.

Yes, I know it says "flooplain;"  I'll fix it later <G>.

The capital of Iyudah is Avivash, located in the southeastern region of Meggido.  A city of 2.5 million inhabitants and location of the Iyudean government and central religious temple, Avivash serves as the economic, political, and spiritual hub of Kuzri life.  King Daefed Starport, the world's only standard-class starport, is also located here;  other cities offer only limited services to non-governmental vessels, and all off-world traffic is required to land at King Daefed.

Iyudah's "second city" is Amorri, located west of Avivash along the Meggido river.  Home to 1.25 million citizens, Amorri has a flourishing business district, with several local mining and agricultural concerns based out of the city center.  Amorri is also home to the largest population of non-Kuzrim;  the foreign community here numbers about 75,000.

Another major city is Sihon, which is located north of and in between Avivash and Amorri, creating a larger metropolitan area with the two of them frequently called "Daefed's Triangle."  Sihon is home to over 1 million inhabitants, bringing the total metropolitan area to just under 5 million residents.

East of Avivash, nestled at the foot of the Ebritz Highlands, is Hadash-borei, Iyudah's leisure capital.  In the city, home to about 800,000, entertainment opportunities abound, and the parks along the edge of the Ebritz region and circling Lake Kabor are famed for their natural beauty.

To the west, on the coast of the Iyudean Ocean, is the city of Jopfia, the oldest city on Iyudah save Avivash itself.  Jopfia, a city of 500,000, has a thriving cultural district, with several notable museums, art galleries, and music venues.  Jopfia's Old City is a major attraction for vacationing Kuzrim, and the city boasts Iyudah's most vibrant nightlife.

On the northern edge of Meggido is the small city of Tel Reshit, home to about 200,000.  This frontier town's economy is driven by local agricultural ventures and by the mineral mines that dot the edge of the Paran Desert.  Far from being scorned for its small size and rustic nature, Tel Reshit is celebrated as the heart of Iyudah's foodstuff production.

Outside of the cities, there are many small agricultural communities, communal farms, and even a handful of artists' colonies.  The total rural population of Iyudah is thought to number around 1.5 million.
