Expanded Tables for R&D

Sometimes the difference in a die code between the base ship and a new design to be R&Ded is greater than what the modification tables allow. When this is the case, the tables may be expanded by continuing to use the last incremental change shown on the table. For example, +1D+1 to shields costs 35% and +1D+2 to shields costs 50%. The difference between these two costs is 15%. Therefore the cost for +2D shields, which is beyond the modification table limits, costs 50% + 15% = 65%. +3D would cost 50% + 15% + 15% +15% +15% = 110%. Sensors

For differences in sensors, use the range and die code change rules on the Weapons Costs page, but the base cost is one tenth of the base cost of the ship. For range, the four categories are passive, scan, search, and focus.

Starfighter Complement

Hangar space costs 1,000 credits (capital scale) per squadron (12 starfighters). Because this is R&D and not modifications, there are no penalties to the hull code.

Hyperdrives

Hyperdrives are only replacements in R&D, and don't use the modification table. The new hyperdrive is a cost, and the old hyperdrive is a replacement. Anything below x20 is free.
