Admiral Proudmore Assassinated
AREX, WINNWARD CITY: A very disturbing day this has become and may be the worst in Arexian history. A few hours ago, it was discovered that the leader of Arex, Admriral Proudmore, and his wife were murdered in their sleep by an unseen assailant. Not only that, but three of the High Guards were slain in the act. Undisclosed sources say that Proudmore and his wife were shot once in the head with what seems like a projectile type weapon. Type is unknown at this time. The Brotherhood will hold an emergency meeting at high noon. |

New companies have long sought to locate their headquarters in or near the Core, hoping to take advantage of the benefits and reputation these systems bring. Independent Core Worlds
Proud and mighty, with incomes rivaling what the Empire and New Republic receive from this area, are several independent worlds in the Galactic Core. They maintain many of their own institutions, and are eager to resume their former places of prominence in the development of the Known Galaxy.

The planets and sectors in the immediate vicinity of Coruscant form the brightest light of the Core Worlds and contain some of the greatest systems in the Known Galaxy.
Core Stature
Although part of the Galactic Republic for as long as twenty-five thousand years, member worlds controlled their own destinies, establishing colonies, maintaining aristocratic classes, building themselves into great economic and industrial powers. The Mid Core and Outer Core were the perfect setting for early hyperspace and other interplanetary travel. Their worlds were not too far apart, as in the Colonies, nor very close but cluttered with debris, as in the Inner Core — and bountiful besides.
Rimma Run & Hydian Way
The Colonies Region, filling the distal shell of the Galactic Core, is not to be neglected. Although oppressed by the Empire and lacking the prestige of the Core Worlds, it was here that the Republic first spread into and filled, before erupting outward into the Galactic Rim. One prominent area is the beginning of the Rimma Trade Route, which is a major pipeline for bacta entering the Core.

Other portions of The Colonies show an equally great mix between Core and Rim.
Inner Core & Deep Core
The Core Worlds had one other frontier. The shell forming the Inner Core, settled at the same time as The Colonies were opened up, is of right considered part of the Core Worlds, yet without the grandeur. These worlds are less populated than many in The Colonies, and while navigation is still difficult, many vital shortcuts between Mid Core systems trace their way through this area. Further inside, however, is the still impenetrable Deep Core.
