The Gordian Reach was an important trade route millennia ago. With time, interstellar debris was swept into its path, and the ancient route could no longer be used. Today, only a small section of the original route remains, but the Gordian Reach has given its name to a much larger region of space.

This Oversector, created by Palpatine, contains Ord Mantell, Kwenn Space Station, and Yavin IV.

Three thousand years ago, the Hydian Way Trade Route was blazed in the place of the Gordian Reach by Freia Kallea. Her life and story are the basis for the Kallea Cycle, a set of epic stories spread across the many systems she discovered. Today the Hydian Way moves a vast amount of materiel between the Corporate Sector and the Core Worlds.

Bothawui is an important member of the New Republic, and the Bothans have access to a vast amount of knowledge about the goings-on of the Galaxy through their SpyNet.
