Worlds on the Perlemian Trade Route

One of two major trade spines servicing the galaxy, it runs from the Core Worlds out to the Rim territories. Along with the Corellian Trade Spine, the Perlemian Trade Route defines the section of the galaxy known as The Slice. It runs through Darpa and Bormea Sectors, and connects — in order - Corulag, Chandrila, Brentaal, Esseles, Rhinnal, and Ralltiir. The New Republic politically labels the Bormea and Darpa Sectors as the Perlemian Sector. The New Republic Navy maintains a heavy presence in this area.

Core Worlds

Core Worlds: Ringali Shell (Bormea Sector)

(The Perlemian Trade Route travels Coreward from Corulag. Travelers eventually reach Coruscant and other Core World systems.)

Corulag (Empire)

Corulag is the primary planet in the Corulag System, and is a temperate world covered with forests and plains. A satellite of the Imperial Academy is located in the capital city of Curamalle. This former Imperial planet has recently joined the Second Imperium. A model Core World fully loyal to the Emperor's New Order, it is home to one of the Imperial military academies.

Chandrila (New Republic)

A peaceful world of rolling plains and oceans. It focuses its commercial activities on a thriving agricultural economy. The homeworld of Mon Mothma, Chandrila has two continents surrounded by vast oceans. Located in the Bormea Sector of the Core Systems, it was one of the few worlds that openly opposed Palpatine's New Order. When Mon Mothma defected from the New Order and formed the Alliance, there was no immediate retaliation on Chandrila, although tariffs and taxes grew over the years until the inhabitants began anticipating it.

Brentaal (Independent)

The hub of commercial activity along the Core Worlds edge, Brentaal is dominated by commercial starports, cities of warehouses, trade markets, financial markets and industrial centers. This dry planet has eight continents surrounded by salty oceans. It is located at the intersection of the Perlemian Trade Route and the Hydian Way. A commercial world, Brentaal's economic and political life was run by the noble families of the planet's ruling Houses.

(The Hydian Way Trade Route links the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, passing from the mid Core through Brentaal and onward to the Outer Rim Territories reaching the Corporate Sector.)

Core Worlds: Ringali Shell (Darpa Sector)

Esselles (Independent)

This Core World is a major center for manufacturing high-technology components headed for capital warships. Home of the Damorean Manufacturing Corporation — producers of the Carrack-class light cruiser. For years, Esseles dominated all the other planets within the Darpa sector, but the planet lost territory during the pre-Clone Wars era, and still more with the rise of the Empire. Esseles is a warm world covered with young mountain ranges, and its 24 billion inhabitants live in the few scattered valleys and plains. The Esselians are loyal to their homeworld, and prefer to meet their own needs before those of the Empire; an active New Order party has been trying to force Esseles more fully into the Imperial mold.

Calamar, the planet's capital city, is viewed as a center of high culture with its many parks and museums. New Calamar is located on the planet's southern continent (which is often called Calamar) and is home to Terril Naval Base. Other cities include Alabar. Esseles' government was composed of the elected representatives of the Hall and President Cambira Ralle, who were all overseen by Imperial Governor Griff Takel. President Ralle, a hero who led Esseles through the Clone Wars, was a member of the Forad political party. After the Battle of Yavin, Ralle was challenged by both the rival Cardean party and the pro-Empire Esselian New Order (ENO) party, the leader of which asked Ralle to step down voluntarily in favor of the ENO candidate.

The planet is a center for high-tech research and development, including hypernautics and advanced hyperdrive engines. Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Esseles' economy was hurt by Lord Tion's blockade of the nearby world Ralltiir. This severely harmed Esseles' alien population, who largely work in the transportation industry.

Rhinnal (Independent)

Rhinnal, where honor and style play a major part in society, has a major medical academy and pharmaceutical industry. This planet has recently emerged from an ice age. It remains covered with glaciers and rivers of ice. Habitation of the planet continues, however, and it is known as a business education center.

Ralltiir (Independent)

Ralltir was once a major banking center and financial market in the Core Worlds. A planet sympathetic to the Alliance, it came under Imperial scrutiny just before the Battle of Yavin. Lord Tion was called in to suppress the rebellious uprisings there, just as Princess Leia Organa arrived on the planet to deliver medical and combat supplies to the Alliance supporters there. She was intercepted by Lord Tion, who fawned over her while executing the planet's rulers and killing anyone suspected of having ties to the Alliance. It was here that Alliance supporters broken through the Imperial troops and delivered to Princess Leia the first word of the Empire's new weapon, the Death Star.
